Why a Maine Coon?

Maine Coons are special. They are exceptionally beautiful, of course, but they steal your heart like no other. Whether its their gentle nature, their dog-like behavior, or their ability to love everyone in the household, Maine Coons are perfect companions!

How much do your Maine Coons cost?

Our kittens generally run $2500-$3000. Older kitties are even more affordable. Prices are always posted on the kitten page. A $500 deposit is required to reserve a kitten. (It is deducted from the price of the kitten.

Are you kittens registered?

Yes. Our cattery and several of our sires and queens are CFA registered. The cattery and ALL of our breeding cats are TICA registered. Our litters are registered with TICA as well.

Why do Maine Coons costs so much?

As with anu registered purebred animal, the costs of breeding and care is substantially higher. If you see a Maine Coon advertised with a low price, be careful! Most of them are SCAMS! You might be buying a kitten with no proof of Maine Coon lineage, without health screening, or you might not receive your kitten at all!

What do you kittens come with?

Kittens come with two sets of vaccinations, health screening, microchip, pedigree, 30 days of Trupanion insurance, and a one year genetic health guarantee.

Do you offer a health guarantee?

Our kittens come with a one year genetic health guarantee. Sires and Queens are selectively chosen and health screened to avoid any common issues to the breed.

Where are you located and how can I pick up my kitten?

We are located in central FL. As many catteries are ‘closed catteries”, we have made the decision to do the same. Cats are bred in our home. We do not have a store. Although we do use cameras at every turn, there have been some visits that have made us uncomfortable. IN addition, there are health factors to take into account as well as well as insurance requirements. Video chats are always welcome!

Kittens can be picked up at Tampa, Sarasota, or Orlando airports as well as any other agreed upon location. If you are looking for a flight nanny for long distance travel, I usually recommend PetJetPals.com. Instant quotes can be obtained from their website.

Do you offer breeding rights?

We do not offer breading rights at this time.

How big will my Maine Coon get?

While there are many photos floating around the internet of gargantuan beastly Maine Coons, this should not be your reason to purchase one. A lot of times the old fisherman’s camera trick is used or small people/children are used to make the Maine Coon appear larger. Maine Coons are big, don’t get me wrong, but being bigger than a domestic cat and being the cat used in the “I caught a fish this big” photos are two different things. In any case, larger cat trees and litter boxes are needed for this breed.

What do you feed your kittens and how often?

We feed our kittens Purina One + Healthy Kitten. This is a dry kibble that is available 24/7. Maine Coons need a high protein diet and this is where kittens get most of their protein. It is also good for dental care. We supplement their diet with Fancy Feast Kitten Pate. This is a wet canned food. Although it is not high in protein, eating wet food is important for hydration and urinary health, Kittens are given this food at morning and at night. (Raw food can take the place of this supplement if you prefer to make your own food. Dry food is still needs to be available.)

It is recommended for Maine Coons to eat kitten food for the first two years before switching to adult food.

What litter and litter box do you use?

We use unscented Frisco by Chewy litter. It has a lot less dust than other litters we have tried. Whichever litter you choose, please make sure that it is not scented. Scented litters are very bad for kittens’ respiratory health and it could make your kitten sick.

Our kitten start with a small litter box, adapt to a larger litter box, and then use  our Litter Robot 4.

What kind of cat trees do you recommend?

I like big and short cat trees. Although Maine Coons like being high, they will jump from the top of a high surface directly to the ground. This is very hard on their hips and could do extensive damage,

Another consideration is scratching posts. Cats need this exercise. Although you cat tree is likely to have one, you kitten will need others in different parts of your home.

What brush do you use?

I don’t use a brush at all. I use a greyhound comb. It is so much easier to remove tangles with this item.

Maine Coons love to drink out of water fountains (and some even like the sink). Please keep in mind when choosing food and water bowls that they should be wide. Narrow bowls can cause what is called whisker fatigue. This happens when whiskers get consistently bent. Bent or broken whiskers can cause sensory issues for your loved one.
